Can a dirty sofa be collected?
Describe what “dirty” means: stained upholstery, pet hair, smoke odour, dampness or another issue. Those conditions affect handling and whether reuse is realistic. A washable cover does not automatically make the whole sofa clean. Provide clear photos and explain any contamination before confirmation; do not conceal it under a blanket. Acceptance and handling are assessed from the actual condition. Collection is not a cleaning treatment, and cleaning is not automatically included in the price.
An ugly or outdated sofa: reuse or removal?
A sofa you find ugly may still suit another home. Separate appearance from function: an unfashionable colour is different from a broken frame or sagging seat. If you offer it for reuse, show the whole sofa in daylight and mention wear honestly. Include its dimensions and the collection floor. If you simply want to make space for a different style, you can request removal without describing the furniture as broken when it is not.
How do I get rid of a broken sofa?
Explain which part has failed: a leg, frame, spring, seat support or reclining mechanism. A damaged frame may no longer be safe to lift by the armrests. Mention exposed sharp parts and sections that move independently, and photograph the damage without taking the sofa apart just to show it. A broken sofa can be submitted for assessment; the condition and carrying route determine whether and how collection can be arranged. Keep loose components with the inventory so the request covers the complete item.
Replacing a sofa: when should the old one go?
Check the delivery arrangements for your replacement sofa before planning removal. Do not assume the furniture shop takes the old sofa away: that needs a separate agreement with the seller. Allow time between the confirmed collection and delivery, especially if the old and new sofas cannot both fit in the hallway. Compare the new sofa’s dimensions with the route as well. You can state a preferred removal date, but it becomes an appointment only after confirmation.
What can I do with an unusable sofa?
If the sofa cannot reasonably be used again, focus on suitable removal rather than offering it as usable furniture. From your room to the collection van
Walk the complete carrying route before submitting the request. Include internal doors, stair turns, thresholds and the distance to a possible loading space. Measure a lift’s doorway and interior rather than simply stating that a lift is present. If items are in several rooms or storage spaces, describe each starting point. Photographs of difficult passages are useful alongside the measurements.
An appointment is confirmed after assessment
Enter your preferred date and, if possible, an alternative. The inventory, address, access and schedule need assessment before the collection is confirmed. Submitting the form does not reserve a date or guarantee same-day service. Coordinate a new furniture delivery or key handover only after confirmation. Payment follows the agreed collection; you do not pay when submitting the request.
